The Arboretum is hosting a spring public event with Plein Air Austin. This is an Artist Paint Out with Exhibition & Art Sale on Saturday, June 1st, 2019. Participating artists will paint on site in the morning, then display & discuss their paintings with the public in a "Wet Paint Gallery" from 11 am - 12 noon.
Exhibition & display tents will feature framed plein air paintings that are available for purchase. Live painting demonstrations will be held. The public is invited to come learn about and see how to paint from life en plein air. Children are welcome to create their own artwork in the "Kids Corner" tent. The event is free and open to the public. Exhibiting artists must be current members of Plein Air Austin and the paint out begins at 8 am. Inside the garden center, visitors can browse beautiful, small paintings that are perfect for the gifting season that is just around the corner. At 2 pm on Saturday, Nov. 10, Robin Cheers will demonstrate painting from life while working from a model in the garden. You can watch the demo, or paint the figure as well!
We cannot thank our artist friends enough for so generously donating such beautiful art to raise money for the Rockport Center for the Arts. The fundraiser was more successful than we could have imagined! It was very exciting here in Austin as we uploaded images and had them sell almost immediately! We enjoyed unpacking all the art and got to see it all hung together. The response from our patrons was equally exciting. We had almost everything sell well before the end of the sale. We made more than our goal of $10,000 for RCA. We only hope that they are able to get back in business there soon and that our beautiful coastal communities recover and thrive once again. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
PAA has partnered with the Zilker Botanical Gardens and we are very excited to share our plans to host Sunday Socials at the gardens. These socials will bring our artists together for painting, demonstrations and conversation over coffee and a bite. The Gardens are excited to have our group painting in the gardens, interacting with visitors and exhibiting our art during events. These events for active members only. Please RSVP via the Meetup group.
